Role:
To perform the Product Design function for medical device products in the Tullamore EMEA R&D Department.
Role Accountabilities:
The effective implementation of:
New product designs and product design enhancements that are acceptable in terms of product function & specifications and in terms of all regulatory and manufacturing practice requirements.
Pro-active communications and problem solving with clinical, marketing & operations to develop and introduce new products to Covidien.

Experience:
The person will ideally possess a Degree in Engineering or related discipline (Mechanical, Biomedical, Polymer, Product Design). Candidates with other technical qualifications and relevant work experience may also qualify.
Minimum of 2 years work experience in an engineering role within R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing or QA.
Skills & Competencies:
Engineering design using CAD systems preferably 3D.
Knowledge of polymer materials and processing.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes & DFMA.
Good technical engineering knowledge (engineering principles).
Innovative, presenting ideas clearly and concisely.
Good communication skills & attention to detail.
Develop new product prototypes, test and produce test reports.
Develop new product documentation in line with internal company procedures.
Manage workload, meet deadlines and allocate priorities.
Liaison with internal & external customers and vendors.
Characteristics:
Highly motivated.
Good analytical skills.
Team worker in cross-functional project teams.
